When we visited Yellowstone National Park last summer I was amazed by the geothermal activity at this park. We saw many geysers and among them was this Jet Geyser erupting at the Lower Geyser Basin at Yellowstone.
The heat from the volcanic activity makes its presence known by heating ground water. This eruption is the result of super-heated water below-ground becoming trapped in channels leading to the surface and creating this thermal feature.

Yes it is beautiful yet dangerous. There have been many tragedies of thermal pool accidents at Yellowstone as the geyser’s surface temperature is close to boiling. There are many signs at the place to walk on the wooden bridge and be careful.

No there is a boardwalk there. We are only allowed to walk on that. I wouldn’t risk for anything.

This looks massive in perspective to the trees in the background – is it really?

For these Fountain and Jet geysers the eruptions are upto 50 feet or more. This one was about 20 feet when clicked.

Yes Suyash! It was thrilling. I was amazed with the kind of diversity nature offers. I never thought I would be walking among live geysers on a dormant volcano.

I recall waiting for Old Faithful- anxious for my young daughters to witness the spectacle of erupting water…
All they were interested in were the chipmunks near by!!! Out of fairness, they were ages 4, 4, and 6 at the time 🙂

It was natural at that age. So you have twins?
We waited for the Old Faithful too anxiously and then marveled at the play of nature.
